WHAT IS DERMAPLANING?
Dermaplaning, also referred to as Epidermal Leveling or Blading, is an exfoliation procedure designed to smooth the appearance, eliminate fine lines, and reduce acne scarring.
The innovative technique carefully removes layers of the tissue, ridding the face of the dead skin and ‘peach fuzz’ that can trap in dirt and oils. The procedure will allow for new skin to appear, brightening the complexion. It cleanses skin of impurities, unclogs pores, and removes years of build up and dead skin cells. Your face becomes noticeably smoother and refreshed.
No pretreatment is required before Dermaplaning/Epidermal Leveling. Perfect for a last minute procedure, dramatic results can be seen immediately after the first treatment. No chemicals are used during the Dermaplaning/Epidermal Leveling procedure making is suitable for every skin type and tone, even darker complexions. It is safe for pregnant or nursing patients, since there are no chemicals involved in the service.
Right after your treatment, your face will take on a healthy, glowing appearance without the cost or recovery time associated with other more invasive procedures. For optimal results, it is recommended that clients repeat the Epidermal Leveling procedure once a month.

FAQ
Is a Dermaplane a safe procedure?
When performed by a well trained professional, Dermaplaning is very safe. Our Estheticians have been trained and continue their Advanced Training on existing and new treatments throughout the year. Another bonus of Dermaplaning is that it is a great treatment for clients who are pregnant or nursing who want a deep exfoliation, but are not allowed to use peeling agents on their skin because of the risk of chemicals.
Will my hair grow back thicker?
No! This is physiologically impossible. There are two types of hair that grow on your body. ‘Vellus’ hair, which when cut or removed will grow back the same size and shape, therefore, the main structure of ‘Vellus’ hair does not change and is not altered by Dermaplaning. ‘Terminal’ hair however, is physiologically coarse. When this hair type is cut it will always grow back coarse. Dermaplaning is designed to treat the ‘Vellus’ hair which is located on the face. Once ‘Vellus’ hair is cut, it will maintain a blunt edge and this blunt edge will not physiologically alter the hair itself. The “Terminal” hair, usually found on top lip and chin, can be removed prior to the Dermaplaning treatment by Sugaring/Waxing (both hair removal services we offer) to eliminate any course hair re-growth. (Your Esthetician will discuss this option prior to service.)
What is the recovery process?
There is little to no downtime after an Epidermal Leveling treatment. Clients can return to school or work immediately. Initially, the face may be slightly red, although this will quickly resolve.
What areas can be treated?
Dermaplaning is performed on the face and partial neck area ONLY.
How often is the procedure performed?
Dermaplaning can be performed every four weeks. Treating the skin in this manner actually removes about three weeks worth of dead skin cells. The skin needs to complete its normal thirty day rejuvenation cycle before the treatment is done again.
What skin types/conditions can be treated?
All skin types may benefit from Dermaplaning. A Dermaplane is not recommended if you have acne or an excessive production of sebaceous gland oil. (Sebaceous glands excrete oil along the Vellus hair). If the hair is removed, the oils may cause bacteria growth that can stimulate acne breakouts.
